Avril Ramona Lavigne Whibley (Napanee, Ontário, 27 de setembro de 1984) é uma cantora de Pop/Rock do Canadá. Seus quatro (sendo um deles um cd/dvd) álbuns musicais, “Let Go” (lançado em 2002) “My World“,”Under My Skin” (lançado em 2004) e “The Best Damn Thing” (lançado em 2007) venderam mais de 36 milhões de cópias juntos.

Avril, filha de Judy Lavigne e John Lavigne, nasceu numa família religiosa de classe média. Teve uma infância calma mas superprotegida pelos seus pais. Cantava desde que era uma criancinha. No começo, cantava somente na igreja, mas logo começou a se apresentar em feiras e exposições. Sua mãe lhe chamava de Little Song Bird, que quer dizer Pequeno Pássaro Cantor, em inglês.

Certa vez, ganhou o concurso de uma rádio para cantar com Shania Twain, uma cantora de country moderno. Lavigne gostou do gostinho do sucesso e resolveu que, definitivamente, seria cantora.

Avril abandonou a sua pequena cidade para tentar a sorte como cantora na cidade de Nova Iorque, que ela mesma chama de “Capital do Mundo”. Seu estilo jovem e irreverente chamou a atenção dos produtores, e várias músicas que lhe foram propostas obtiveram a mesma resposta da jovem adolescente: “Não gosto da idéia de ir ao palco cantar algo que outra pessoa escreveu. Se estou lá em cima quero dizer ‘Isto é o que eu escrevi, isto sou eu mesma falando’.”

Gosta de South Park e sua comida preferida é pizza. Sofre de asma e hipoglecimia. Gosta quando os fãs demonstram o seu apreço como, por exemplo, quando fundam bandas inspirados no seu exemplo.Em 2007 Avril Lavigne lançou The Best Damn Thing que ja é um sucesso vendeu apenas em 18 dias 2 milhões de copias.Girlfriend realizado para ser seu primeiro single chegou ao topo da Billboard.
